Filmmaker Phillip Adams once said, “Of all the big questions of existence… none impacts our daily lives more than the problem of time.” 

The notion of time has always mystified and attracted the speculation of societies and civilizations. It dictates our lives, controls our actions. Each major stage of our life is delineated by a construct of time, be it birth, death, marriage, coming of age or retirement. Deadlines rule our days. Yet, despite its overwhelming importance to us, we know very little about time other than measurement of it. What is its nature? Where does it come from? Can it be saved, stopped, suspended or reversed? Can we travel back or forward in time? Is time on our side or against us? And will it ever end? Scientists, philosophers, and religious leaders, among others, have all attempted to answer these questions, yet we are left with few, if any, answers to perhaps one of the most important issues facing us all; what is time?
