Field Work Online Roundtable “Ukraine, Making Art in Times of War”

November 18, 1-2:30PM

To honor the resilience of the Ukrainian people as the devastating war in Ukraine rages on, the biennial features one or more Ukrainian artists in each of its physical exhibitions. Further situating the exhibition in conflict and creating transatlantic dialogue, it will be accompanied by the Online Roundtable “Ukraine, Making Art in Times of War” on the war in Ukraine with Maria Kulikovska, Slinko, and Berlin-based curator Valeria Schiller as speakers moderated by Katya Grokhovsky. The screening of a video narrating the war through the lens of Soviet-era objects found at flea markets by Ukrainian-born US-based artist Slinko “Everything Must Go” (2014-2023) on view in the exhibition serves as a physical manifestation of the panel in the exhibition space. The video raises open-ended questions about loss and repair within the context of nationhood and war.
