The LeRoy Neiman and Janet Byrne Neiman Foundation Summer 2024 Internship

EFA Project Space is now accepting applications for The LeRoy Neiman and Janet Byrne Neiman Foundation Summer 2024 Internship hosted by Rethinking Residencies! 

Our internship program runs from June through August and is a great opportunity to gain experience in arts administration, gallery management and operations, as well as curatorial affairs. Internship is a minimum two days a week between Wednesdays and Saturdays.

We are seeking a candidate interested in learning about the different aspects of arts nonprofits, including communications, exhibitions and programs, development, operations, artist residencies, and accessibility.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Assisting with exhibition installation and deinstallation, documentation, and events.

  • Learning the essentials of gallery registration work, including generating documents and outreach.

  • Practicing interfacing with gallery visitors about the current exhibitions, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be rising high school seniors, college freshmen, or college sophomores. No previous experience is required, but demonstrated enthusiasm for a career in the arts is a must. 

  • Mac proficiency (Word and Excel), and basic Creative Suite knowledge are a plus.

  • Proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

  • Basic experience in graphic design (flyers, website banners, social media posts, etc).

  • Interest or experience in administrative and clerical tasks.

  • Interest or experience in accessibility.

  • Interest or experience in Squarespace or other website development platforms.

  • Ability to stay organized and punctual with a variety of tasks.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills, multitasking, reliability, team player.

  • Flexible, positive, friendly, helpful attitude.

INTERNSHIP DATES:
June–August, 2024

Internships are 12 weeks long, and require a minimum commitment of 16 hours (two days) per week. 

COMPENSATION:
Interns will be provided with a stipend of $1,000/month, receiving a total of $3,000 over the course of the internship program.

EFA Project Space Fellowship

The EFA Project Space fellowship is a minimum of 1-2 days per week, one semester long opportunity to work with EFA Project Space staff on gallery operations and exhibition planning.

General Information

  • This fellowship is in person for a minimum of 1-2 days per week, and at least a one semester commitment.

  • The fellow must be available to work during gallery hours (12-6 pm, Wednesday - Saturday).

  • Graduate school students in arts-related field are preferred. Academic credit arrangements for the fellowship must be made by the student. All paperwork for credit exchange is to be furnished at the beginning of the fellowship period.

  • This is a hands-on fellowship. The fellow will work closely with the EFA Project Space staff to gain valuable experience regarding daily operation at a non-profit art gallery, from administrative tasks, exhibition planning, to install/de-install of exhibitions.
