Chaperone: Eight Artists, Eight Weeks, Eight Movies

June 10 - July 29, 2009

At EFA Project Space, 323 W. 39th St, 2nd Floor

Artists: Alex Bag, Amy Granat Beth Campbell, k8 Hardy Ian Cooper, Kalup Linzy Anna Craycroft, Sara Greenberger Rafferty

From June 10th through July 29th, 2009, EFA Project Space presents Chaperone, an eightweek summer event. This weekly series consists of films handpicked by a group of artists, all whose work provocatively explores disparate aspects of our culture's love affair with mediated reality.

Each artist has been asked to share a film he or she finds curious, masterful, or compelling. Through live introductions and an accompanying publication, the artists present their "take" on these selected cinematic works, giving greater insight and dimension to our understanding of their own distinct creative processes. Whether it be a classic, a blockbuster, a musical, a slasher, or an art-house indie, the audience will experience each film through the watchful eyes of the eight dutiful chaperones.
